Joseph A. Whalen 


Joseph A. Whalen of Horsham died Nov. 4, 2003, in Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 90.

Born in Philadelphia Sept. 25, 1913, he was a son of the late Edward and Margaret (Dillon) Whalen. 

Mr. Whalen was a self­-employed general contractor, operating Joseph A. Whalen Contractors until retiring in 1975.

Mr. Whalen was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen, where he was head usher and was a former 'member of the Senior Citizens Club.  

He is survived by a daugh­ter, Audi M. Wales of Blue Bell, a son, Joseph A. Jr. of Oreland, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He' was predeceased by !wives Audrey A. (Hesh) Whalen in 1993 and Kathryn (Lesher) Whalen in 1995, and a daughter, Patt A. Devine.

Relatives and friends may . ,call from 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 8 at St., Alphonsus Church, Conwell Drive, Maple Glen. 

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Monsignor Thomas Owens as celebrant. 

 Interment will be in Holy 'Sepulcher Cemetery, Cheltenham. 

Remembrances in the form of Mass cards would be appre­ciated by the family.
