Albert
V. "Zaffy" Zaffarano died
Dec. 24, 2003, at Central Montgomery Medical Center in Lansdale. He was
75.
Mr.
Zaffarano, of Fort Washington, was a police officer with Upper Dublin
for 34 years and was the sergeant in charge of the juvenile division. He
retired from the police department in 1989.
He was a member of a member of FO.P. Lodge 14 of
Montgomery County and was inducted into the American Police Hall of Fame
in 1989. He was a life active member of the Fort Washington Fire Co. for
47 years,
and was assistant chief engineer from 1965 to 1983.

Born
March 9, 1928, in Ambler, he was a son of the late Francesco and
Consiglia (DellaDonna) Zaffarano. He was the husband of the late
Virginia (Picarilli) Zaffarano who died in 1986.
He
served in the U.S. Army
during the Korean War. Mr. Zaffarano
was a member of the graduating class of Ambler High School in 1946, and
inducted into the Hall of Fame of Ambler — Wissahickon High School in
1994 to 1995.
Surviving
are daughters, Patricia Zaffarano of Ambler, Diana Zaffarano and of Fort
Washington and Lisa King of Lansdale; Ryan and Ally King of Lansdale;
two sisters, Josephine Higler of Maryland and Lena Mullahey of Ambler;
two brothers, Frank of Norristown and Anthony of Barto; and many nieces
and nephews.
Services
were Dec. 27 in St Joseph's Church, Main and Poplar streets, Ambler with
a funeral Mass at the church. The Rev. Monsignor Stephen McHenry, pastor
of St. Anthony of Padua Church, officiated. Interment was at Holy
Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham.
Contributions may be made to a charity of the
donor's choice.
