Jerry Conte of Ambler died Sunday, Jan. 4,
2004, at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington after an illness. He was
80.
He was the husband of Angeline Z. (Zenobio)
Conte, who died in 1986.
Born in Minturno, Italy, he was the son of
the late Pasquale and Barbara (Fedele) Conte.
Mr. Conte served in the U.S. Army from 1943
to 1946 in the Philippines Liberation and Asiatic Pacific Campaign and
was awarded five bronze stars.
For 45 years and until his death, he owned
and operated Jerry's Barber Shop in Jenkintown.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua
Roman Catholic Church in Ambler, where he served as an usher. He was a
member of the Knights of Columbus Notre Dame Council 3843 and the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Friel Casalinuovo Post, both in Ambler.
He is survived by: a daughter, Barbara
Fields of Ambler; two sons, Patrick J. Conte of Ambler and Salvatore Sam
Conte of Lansdale; a grandson, Michael Conte of Ambler; a granddaughter,
Leah Conte of Alexandria, Va.; and a brother, Frank Conte of Bradenton,
Fla.
Relatives and friends may call from 9 a.m.
until the time of the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St.
Joseph's Church, Main and Poplar streets, Ambler with the Rev. Monsignor
Stephen McHenry, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua as celebrant. Interment
will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Norristown.
Remembrances in Mr. Conte's name to St.
Anthony Church Rebuilding Fund, 259 Forest Ave., Ambler, PA 19002 would
be appreciated.
