Paul J. McAleer

Paul J. McAleer of Lower Gwynedd died Sept. 28, 2004, in Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 72.

Born in Philadelphia, Jan. 27, 1932, he was a son of the late Michael and Bernadette (Gaffney) McAleer.

Mr. McAleer served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1963.

He taught in the Wissahickon School District for 37 tears, retiring in 1994 from Wissahickon High School. During the summers he worked for the National Park Service as a guide at Independence Hall, Philadelphia. He retired in 1979 after 27 years.

Mr. McAleer was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Ambler.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine M. "Pat" McAleer; a daughter, Susan M. (William III) Plunkett of Ambler; two sons, Paul M. (Kimberly) McAleer of Willow Grove; Vincent D. (Elaine) McAleer of New Freedom, Pa.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Bernadette Schweizer of Coppel, Texas.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 2 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Ambler. Interment was private.
