Joseph H. Ricketts



Joseph H. Ricketts of Cathedral Village in Roxboro, formerly of Ambler, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at his residence. He was 88.

He was the husband of Rachel W. (Williams) Ricketts, who preceded him in death in 1990.

Born Aug. 14, 1916, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Douglas) Ricketts.

Mr. Ricketts was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving from 1942 to 1944.

He was the owner and operator of Ambler Maintenance and Supply Co., a roofing business, which he operated for more than 40 years prior to his retirement in 1995.

Mr. Ricketts was a member of Ambler Lions Club, Gwynedd Valley Sportsman Club, a social member of Wissahickon Fire Co., and Wm. Bolton Dixon Post 10 American Legion, Fort Washington.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph H. Ricketts of Williamsburg, Va., and John D. Ricketts of Wenonah, N.J.; two daughters, Emily R. Vincent of Horsham and Jane R. Ackerman of Carlisle, and his nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his friend, Carol R. Michiels of Philadelphia.

Relatives and friends may call at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler with a funeral service at 11. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ambler.
