John J. Cooper
John J. Cooper, 81 of East Oak
Lane section of Philadelphia PA., died Tuesday in the Albert
Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, PA. after a lengthy illness.
The cause of death was pneumonia.
Born in Beth Ayres, PA(1-16-1924), he
was the son of the late Edward J. and the late Elizabeth (nee
Johnson) Cooper
He was a graduate of St. Helena’s
School in Olney and North East Catholic High School.
He served in the US Navy during
WW II serving in the European & Pacific theatres.
He was the former owner of
Wm. H. Cooper's Sons Inc. a barrel manufacturer started by his
grandfather in 1860.
Mr. Cooper was a member of St.
Helena’s Parish for 71 years and was member of their bowling team
for 41 years and for many years was the chairman of the Church
carnival. He was the past commander of the Catholic War Veterans.
He is survived by his
wife, Jane A. (nee Homberger) Cooper of
Philadelphia, PA they were married for 53 years. He is also survived
by 3 sons, John J. (Connie) Cooper, Jr. of Fort Washington, PA,
Edward (Betty Ann) Cooper and James (Mary) Cooper both of North
Carolina; a daughter, Jane Anne (Chip) Greenberg of
Montgomeryville, PA; and 10 grandchildren.

(2-5-2005) from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at St. Helena's Church 5th
Street & Godfrey Ave. Philadelphia with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
