 Daniel L. Deon Sr

Daniel L. Deon Sr., 74 a 51 year resident of Ambler PA., died Friday in the Chestnut Hill Hospital Philadelphia, PA. after a brief illness.

Born in Millville, NJ. (12-26-1930), he was the son of the late Henry and the late Lena (nee Alfano) Deon.  

Dan served in the US Navy from 1948-1952 during the Korean War. He and his wife of 51 years Eleanor M. (nee DeSando) Deon moved to Ambler in 1954.  He started his career with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in the Flourtown, Pa. office. In 1971 he was named Post Master of Flourtown, Broomall in 1973 and later that same year he moved to Wayne where he served until his retirement in 1989. For the past 15 years he has worked as a Funeral Assistant and Parking Lot valet for the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home in Ambler, Pa.  He was a member of (NAPUS) National Association of Postmasters of the United States where he served as Vice President and President.  He was active  in the Wissahickon High School Band Parents Association from 1970 to 1978. Holy Name Society at St. Joseph's Church in Ambler, and was the Past Commander of the Friel, Casalinuovo Post of the VFW. He was currently the Trip Chairman for St. Alphonsus Senior Citizens in Maple Glen, Pa.

Mr. Deon was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church for the past 42 years.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor M. (DeSando) Deon of Ambler, PA; a son Daniel L. Deon, Jr. of Bryn Mawr, PA; a daughter, Denise Deon (Bob) Wilson of St. Louis, MO; and a sister Marie  Locicero Port Orange, FL.

Relatives & Friends may call Tuesday After 6:30 PM and 9:00 to 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home,1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Anthony Of Padua Church, Ambler with the Rev. Msgr. Stephen P. McHenry as Celebrant  Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Ambler.
