Jonathan K. Hames
Jonathan K. Hames, 82 of Ambler
PA. formerly of Cedar Road in Lower Gwynedd, died Monday in the Ambler
Rest Center Ambler, PA.
Born in White, SD., he
was the son of the late Alfred and the late Nellie (nee Gunderson)
Hames.
He served in the US Navy from
3-11-1941 to 12-15-1946 and served in the European and African theater
and was awarded 1 star. He served aboard the USS Swivel as a Chief
Boatswain’s Mate during the invasion of Normandy, France. He also was
a Underwater demolition and recovery diver.
He was a Self Employed Carpenter
Mr. Hames was a member of St.
Anthony Of Padua Church in Ambler, PA. where he served for many years
as an usher, Notre Dame Council of the Knights of Columbus where he
served as Past Grand Knight and the Father Tomko Assembly of the 4th
Degree,. He was also a member of the William Bolton Dixon Post of the
American Legion in Fort Washington.
Mr. Hames was preceded
in death by his first wife Teresa M. (nee Spadaro) in 1969.
He is survived by his wife Rita
C. (nee Brumbaugh) Hames of Ambler; two sons Jonathan K. Hames
Morton, ID and Bruce W. (Cindy) Hames of North Wales, P; three
daughters Nancy M. (James) Basham Waldoboro, ME, Kay M. (Charles)
Covington of Buckingham, PA, and Joanne L. (Mark McAfee)
Daniels Horsham, PA. He was also survived by two brothers, William
Hames of Minneapolis, MN., Richard Hames of Randall, WA; twelve
grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

may call Thursday from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at St. Anthony Of Padua
Church, Forest Ave. and Hendricks St. Ambler with a Funeral Mass at
11:00 AM with Rev. Msgr. Stephen P. McHenry Pastor as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
