“Buzz,” 86, court reporter, devout Catholic, Notre Dame fan.
Eugene J. Maurer, Sr.,
beloved father/grandfather, died, November 4, at home with his
family. Born in Philadelphia, he graduated from North Catholic High
School, and served in the Navy as Chief Petty Officer during World War
II. He was a stenographer for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at Yalta,
Potsdam and Teheran Conferences. He retired from the Federal Court of
Wilmington after 38 years and continued to work as a court Reporter
until his death.
He was a man of style
and elegance, who enjoyed all sports, especially Notre Dame Football,
and loved his summers at his home in Ocean City, NJ.
His passion for his
profession was surpassed only by his love for his family and his
devout faith. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years,
Regina, and is survived by his children, Judith Smith, Eugene Maurer,
Jr., Marita Brown, Kevin Maurer, Dana Price, Daniel Maurer, Mary Kate
Smiley and Thomas Maurer and 15 grandchildren.
Visitation will take
place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1000 Shipley Rd.
Wilmington, on Tuesday evening, November 8th from 7:00 to
8:30 PM, and on Wednesday, November 9th, from 8:30 to 10:00
AM., followed by Mass. Interment St. Thomas The Apostle Cemetery. Glen
Mills, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware
Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, De. 19810
