Domenic J. Mirto
Domenic J. Mirto, 75 of
Glenside, Pa. a former 43 year resident of Ambler, died Friday in
the Abington Memorial Hospital Abington, PA. after a sudden illness.
Born
in Philadelphia, PA( 6-4-1929), he was the son of the late Clemente
and the late Maria (nee Iusi) Mirto. Mr. Mirto was a graduate of
John Bartram High School in Philadelphia and Temple University. He
served in the US. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean conflict.
He was preceded in death by his first
wife of 41 years Angela S. (nee Carminati) Mirto in 1996.
He was an Electronics
Technician, employed by Unisys Corp. And The Former Burroughs Co.
for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1986.
Mr. Mirto was an enthusiast of
Amateur Radio & a member of the Antique Radio Club along with
astronomy and a member of the Messier Society. For several years he
volunteered in the astronomy department at the Franklin Institute in
Philadelphia. He also served as the Majority Inspector of Elections
in District 1 Ward 3 of Upper Dublin Township.
He is survived by his wife
Louise L. (D’Ambrosio) Mirto of Glenside, PA.; two sons Domenic J.
Mirto of Harleysville, PA, Clement A. Mirto of Fleetwood, PA;
a daughter Angela M. Schaab of Exeter Twp., PA; three grandchildren,
Angela, Christopher & Alicia Schaab of Exeter Township, PA; two step
sons, Anthony S. Famularo and Alex T. Famularo both of
Glenside, PA; two step daughters Christine M. Ennis and Antoinette
D. Hoffman both of Glenside, PA.
He is also survived by
7 grandchildren, step-great-grandchild and a sister
Marie Nanni of Philadelphia,
PA.
He was pre-deceased by
his son John A. Mirto
Relatives & Friends may call Tuesday
from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home 1111 S.
Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, and Wednesday 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Luke
The Evangelist Church Easton Road & Fairhill Ave. Glenside, Pa. with
a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre
Cemetery, Cheltenham.
