 Jean “Dolly” Russell

Jean “Dolly” Russell, 75 of Ambler PA., died Tuesday in the Abington Memorial Hospital Abington, PA. after a brief illness. 

Born in Ambler, PA., she was the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Caroline (nee Zangrone) Rocchino.  Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband S. Raymond Russell in 1983 and Daughter Brenda Lee Russell in 1996.

She was a member of the Graduating Class of Ambler High School Class of 1948 and was active with the Reunion committee.

She was the Tax Collector for Ambler Borough for the past 22 years taking over the position that her husband had at the time of his death. She also served as a Crossing Guard in Ambler for 25 years and was best known for her vibrant personality at St. Anthony’s School prior to her retirement.

Mrs. Russell was a member of St. Anthony Of Padua Church, Ambler, PA. where she was active in the Bowling League and Pinochle Marathons, St. Alphonsus Senior Citizens, Belmont Girls and was the Republican Committee woman in Ambler. She was the Treasurer and Past President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 14 of Montgomery County Ladies auxiliary. 

She is survived by her son S. Raymond Russell, Jr. of  Ambler, PA, her daughter Linda J. Russell of  Winter Park, FL; her grandson Joey Elmo of  North Wales, PA; her granddaughter Tina Elmo of  Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by two brothers, Frank Rocchino of Philadelphia, PA, Joe “Jay” Rocchino of Plymouth Meeting, PA; a sister Mary DeMerlis of Ambler, PA and her Life Partner Dominic Pistilli  East Norriton, PA.

Relatives & Friends may call Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Anthony Of Padua Church, Ambler.  Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville. 

Remembrances in her name to  St. Anthony Of Padua Church Memorial Fund, 259 Forest Ave., Ambler, PA.  19002 would be appreciated by the family.
