Regina C. Downs Regina C. Downs, 80 of the Fishtown section of Philadelphia PA., died Wednesday in the Gnaden Huetten Hospital Lehighton, PA.. Born in Lehighton, PA., she was the daughter of the late Arlington C. and the late Margaret A. (nee Schmaltz) Serfass. Mrs. Downs was preceded in death by her husband James W. Downs in 1995. She was a Graduate of Lehighton High School Class of 1943 and Temple Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia Class of 1946. She worked as an R.N. at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and was active with the Nursing School Alumni Assoc. She was a former President of the Adaire Chandler Home and School Association in the Early 60īs . She was a member of the American Legion Elm Tree Post # 88 Ladies Auxiliary in Fishtown. She, along with her husband, operated the James W. Downs Funeral Home on Girard Ave in Philadelphia until 1997. She is survived by two sons James A. (Kathleen M.) Downs of Ambler, David B. (Theresa E.) Downs of Bridgeville, DE; four grandchildren Brian J., Kyra M., Elizabeth T. (Shaun Stipick), Kristine M. (Gregg Swartz) and Amy M. Downs; a great grandson Reese A. Stipick, a brother Arthur C. Serfass of Lehighton, PA and a sister Shirley (Sherwood) Troutman of Lehighton. Relatives and Friends may call Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church Of Kensington 418 Girard Avenue Philadelphia, PA, with a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Philadelphia.
