Robert A. Hoffman, Jr.

May 10, 2006

Robert A. Hoffman, Jr., passed away on May 10, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born December 22, 1928 in Harrisburg, PA, to the late Robert A. and Kathryn Hope Hoffman.  After graduation from William Penn High School, Harrisburg, PA in 1946, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.  Upon completion of boot camp at Parris Island, SC, he served honorably in the Marines for 2 years.  He achieved the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1948.  In 1952, Bob graduated from Bucknell University, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  He was an active brother of Kappa Sigma fraternity during his time at Bucknell.

On June 25th, 1952, he was united in marriage to Teresa J. Belsak in Steelton, PA.  Bob and Terri first moved to Bethlehem, PA, where he began a very successful 30-year career working for Bethlehem Steel Corporation in sales.  In 1958, he and Terri moved to Ambler, PA, where they remained in the same family home for nearly 45 years.  Upon retirement from Bethlehem Steel in 1982, Bob continued his sales career with numerous other companies, including Atlantic Steel in Philadelphia, PA, and Clemens Family Markets.

Bob was a very active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic parish in Ambler.  He made religion an integral part of his life, whether singing in the church choir or serving for several decades as a Co-captain of Malvern.  He always focused his efforts on helping others.  For over 50 years Bob pursued one of his other true passions; golfing with friends and family, as an active member at Old York Road Country Club.

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Terri; his son and his wife, Robert A. and Nancy Hoffman III; his daughter and her husband, Maryanne and John Mogensen; his son and his wife, Patrick and Stacey; his son and his wife, Chris and Krissy; and by nine grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass for Robert A. Hoffman, Jr. will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, 15 May, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 259 Forest Ave.  The Rev. Msgr. Stephen P. McHenry, Pastor, will officiate.  Internment will follow at St. John Neumann Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome at the church from 9 am on, until the hour of services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Bob’s name to the St. Anthony’s Memorial Fund 259 Forest Ave. Ambler, Pa. 19002
