Iovine
Fred F. Iovine, 79 of
Ambler PA., died Wednesday in the Fox Chase Cancer Center
Philadelphia, PA. after a brief stay.
Born in Pittston, PA., he was the son
of the late Andrea and the late Concetta (nee Cirulli) Iovine. Mr.
Iovine was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Alice R. Iovine
(nee Roberto) who died in December of 2005.
He was a graduate of Pittston High
School class of 1945
He served in the US Army
Air Corps from 10-18-1945 to 1-26-1947.
Fred worked for Keasby &
Mattison and Certainteed Corporation in the pipe division in Ambler
as a shipper and receiver for 36 Years and retired when the plant
closed in 1985. At the same time he worked part-time for the former
Palermo's Market in Ambler as a clerk. He returned to work for Videx
machine company in Ambler until he retired in 1992.
Mr. Iovine was a member of
St. Joseph's Church in Ambler where he served as a carpenter and
volunteer. He was also a member of the Notre Dame Council of the
Knights of Columbus, St. Alphonsus Senior's and LRB Club in Ambler.
Fred played softball for many of the local teams and was an avid
golfer.
He is survived by his son
Fred A. (Jean) Iovine of Tamuning, GUAM; three daughters, Rosemarie
A. (Curtis) Lemuell of Quakertown, PA; Tina M. Iovine of
Ambler; Elizabeth M. Iovine of Jeffersonville, PA; 4 grandchildren
and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and a
sister, Elmer Iovine of Loch Haven, PA and Anna Pirillo
of Pittston, PA. He was predeceased by a brother Mario Iovine.
Relatives and Friends may call Sunday
from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Anton B.
Urban Funeral Home 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, with a Funeral
Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Ambler. Interment will be
in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
