Kathryn (Kay) B. Rainey

1927-2006 

Kay passed away on March 7, 2006 in Sarasota, Fl. She was a resident of Houston, TX and formerly of Ambler, Pa. after a courageous battle with COPD.

Kay was born on June 22, 1927 in Phoenixville, PA to James and Mary (nee Durkin) Breslin.  Her dad passed away when Kay was two and her mom married James Durkin when Kay was eight.  Kay attended St Anthony of Padua Catholic School and Ambler High School class of 1945.  She married James Rainey in 1948 and together they had eight children, Kay’s pride and joy!   

In addition to raising children, Kay had a 20 year career as an Executive Assistant at Mintz & Hoke Advertising in Avon, CT  Kay moved to Houston and continued to work for Nobel Drilling for three more years. 

Kay is survived by her loving children and grandchildren. Sons: James, Sarasota, FL; Gregory and wife Kelly, Deep River, CT; Garry and wife Christy and children Ryan and Rylie, Roscoe, IL; Andrew and wife Cheri and son Sean, Centerville, NH; Thomas and wife Sherry and children Brittany and Dylan, Punta Gorda, FL; daughters: Mary T Callahan and husband Jay and daughters, Katie, Tierney and Chandle; Kelly Kurcz and husband Bob and children Colin, Taryn and Kerry, Westlake Village, CA and Katie Mullen and children Siobhan and Logan. 

Kay will be sorely missed for her loving nature, grace and charm. 

Relatives & Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. And Thursday 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, Pa. Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony Of Padua Church, Ambler.  Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ambler. 

Remembrances in her name to  St. Anthony/St. Joseph Elementary School, 260 Forest Avenue,Ambler, Pa. 19002 would be appreciated by the family.
