Ralph Floyd “Bones” Schneider,
73 of, Gwynedd Valley PA., died Saturday in the Alterra Clare Bridge
At Montgomery - Montgomeryville, Pa.
Born in Norristown,
PA., he was the son of the late R. Floyd Sr. and the late Marguerite
(nee Gambone) Schneider
He served in the
Army from 10-5-1954 to 8-10-1956.
He was a Graduate of
Ambler High School Class of 1950 where he played Basketball, Cross
Country, Baseball and Track and was selected for the All Bux-Mont
Basketball Team.
He was a graduate of
Temple University in 1954 on a Basketball Scholarship and also
played Baseball and was the Goalie on the NCAA championship Soccer
team.
He served in the US
Army from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in Alaska where he played
in the Midnight Baseball league.
”Bones“ was hired as
a teacher in the Philadelphia School District and taught for 48
years at Mastbaum Technical High School on Frankford Ave. He had
championship seasons in 3 sports; Basketball, Baseball and Soccer.
He was a Past President of the Coaches Assoc. Of Philadelphia, and
served on many committees of the Philadelphia Teachers Union.
Mr. Schneider also
coached Woman's Basketball for 20 years at Gwynedd Mercy College
where he would yearly challenge his sister Ann Donaldson the coach
of Rosemont College.
He played Baseball for the Lansdale
Tigers in the Perkiomen League and the Sons of Italy Sunday League
along with numerous Basketball Leagues.
He also served as the
Republican committeeman in Lower Gwynedd Township
He is survived by two sisters,
Ann Donaldson of Springhouse and Mary Lou Heckler of Ambler;
two brothers, Joseph Schneider and George Schneider, both of
Ambler and five nieces and two nephews
He was
predeceased by his brother Herb Schneider

at St. Rose Of Lima Church, Sumneytown Pike (Main St.) North Wales,
Pa. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ambler.
