Edward Dawson
Edward Dawson
of Lower Gwynedd died March 5, at Abington Memorial Hospital. He
was 97.
Born in New
York City, he was the son of the late Frank and Marie (Wireman)
Dawson.
He was the
husband of the late Virginia Mae Becker, with whom he shared 42
years of marriage.
He was a
graduate of Stuyvesant High School, Webb Institute of Naval
Architecture, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He was employed
as a mechanical engineer by the Waterbury Tool Company,
Messinger Bearings, Atlantic Refining Company, Sperry Gyroscope
Company, Leeds & Northrop, and General Electric. He also was a
mathematics professor at Pennsylvania State University.
He served in
the U.S. Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of
Lieutenant (JG).
Surviving are
his children, Katy Miller of Thurmond, WV, William Dawson of
Rosemont, Jane Dawson of Sellersville, Paul Dawson of Ambler,
and Edie Dawson of Glenside; and a niece, Judith Garson of New
York, NY.
He was preceded
in death by a sister, Eugenia Garson.
A funeral Mass
was celebrated Friday Mar. 9 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in
Ambler.
