Doris C. Mertz

Doris C. Mertz, 88 Formerly of Fort Washington, Pa. died Friday February 23, 2007 at Foulkeways At Gwynedd, Gwynedd, PA. where she has been a resident since 1995.

Born in Philadelphia, PA. March 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Russell and Jennie May (nee Himango) Conover.

She was a Graduate of Cheltenham High School and Beaver College (Arcadia University) and took courses towards a Masters degree at Temple University and then Taught in the Lower School of The William Penn Charter School in the late 1960’s.

Mrs. Mertz was a Long-time active member of St Thomas’ Church, Whitemarsh; teaching Sunday School for many years as well as being active in various groups she also enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading and handwork.

Mrs. Mertz was preceded in death by her Husband, Gordon J Mertz and her Brother, Edgar Russell Conover, Jr.

She is the Beloved mother of Albert M Comly, Jr and his wife Kathleen M. of Ambler, Pa. and Susan C. Gresh and her husband Philip M., Jr. of Warrenville, IL. and the loving grandmother of Philip M. Gresh, III (wife Sara), Albert M. Comly, III, Katherine J. Comly and Carolyn E. Gresh.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service Saturday March 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Church Whitemarsh, Camphill Road & Bethlehem Pike Fort Washington. The family will receive friends after the service. Interment was held in St. Thomas Church Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Thomas’ Church, Whitemarsh, P.O. Box 247, Fort Washington, PA 19034 or Foulkeways at Gwynedd, Resident Assistance Fund A, 1120 Meetinghouse Road, Gwynedd, PA 19436 would be appreciated by the family.
