Marie Theresa Scalfaro
Marie Theresa
Scalfaro (nee Palermo), a lifelong Ambler resident died on
October 19, 2007. Born in Ambler, she was a loyal parishioner of

She won the
American Legion Award as an eighth-grader at St. Joseph’s Grade
School, graduated from Ambler High School in 1942 and married
her husband, Nick, in 1947. Her religious devotion led her to
pray the rosary every day and later join the Miraculous Medal
Association. In 1945, Marie, along with six of her closest
friends, formed the Italian social club Ben Venuto, which is
still in existence today. An avid reader and lover of the
performing arts, Marie played the lead role in two plays with
the St. Joseph’s Dramatics Society. She was a loyal wife,
full-time homemaker, devoted mother and caring grandmother until
the day she died.
