Helen
M. Simanaitis, 93 formerly of Ambler died Friday in the St.
Mary's Manor in Lansdale, PA. where she enjoyed her independent
living.
Born in Hazelton, PA,
on May 19, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Bernard and
Anna (nee Butenas) Yesenofski. She was one of nine children all
who participated in a life of hard work with many good family
members she was a graduate of Hazelton High School Class of 1932
where she won the literature prize. She loved the outdoors and
would take long walks with her sisters and was a memorable ice
skater. Mrs. Simanaitis married Albert D. Simanaitis in 1935 and
had six children, Albert Simanaitis died in 1976. In her
widowed years she loved to garden, cook, travel the world and
play pinochle.
Mrs. Simanaitis was a
member of St. Anthony of Padua Church where she was active with
the Ladies Guild and Pinochle Groups. She had served as the
Secretary and Treasurer of the VFW in Ambler and attended the
Ambler Senior Center.
She is lovingly
remembered and survived by her children Louise M. Galyo of
Naples, FL, Daniel A. Simanaitis of Isle Palms, SC, Roseanne S.
Coalson of Indian Wells, CA, Peter D. Simanaitis of Lansdale,
PA. She is the loving Grandmother of 6 and Great Grandmother of
4 and also survived by her sister Frances Knoth of Southgate,
MI. Along with her husband she was pre deceased by a daughter
Jeanne S. Low and her Son Albert D. Simanaitis, Jr.
Relatives and friends
may call Thursday December 13, 2007 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St.
Anthony of Padua Church Forest Ave. and Hendricks St. Ambler
with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM with Rev. Msgr. Stephen P.
McHenry as Celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre
Cemetery, Cheltenham.
In lieu of
flowers, remembrances in her name to St. Anthony Church
Memorial Fund 259 Forest Ave., Ambler, PA. 19002, would be
appreciated by the family.
