Lester Lawrence Carpenter
Lester Lawrence Carpenter,
83, died Thursday, January 17, 2008 at his home in
Ambler. Born March 1, 1924 in Shamokin, PA to Anna Regina Balek
and Lester E. Carpenter. Lester attended the Milton Hershey
School from age seven to eighteen. He moved to Philadelphia in
1942. A World War II veteran, he served in the Marine Corps as a
radar technician in New Caledonia, in the South Pacific. After
the war, he returned to Philadelphia and graduated from the
Moore School at the University of Pennsylvania. On July 15,
1950, he married Dawn A. Hart of Philadelphia. They settled in
Ambler in 1955, where they raised a family. Lester was a
business owner, and an active member of the local community and
the Oreland Presbyterian Church. A loving and devoted husband,
caring father, and tender pop-pop, he will be dearly missed by
family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dawn, son Jeff,
daughter-in-law Barbara of Chalfont, PA, daughter Diana Jones of
Ambler, and grandchildren Brooke, Jacob, Tara, and Joshua.

Monday, January 21, 2007 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Oreland
Presbyterian Church, 1119 Church Road, Oreland. Funeral Service
will be at 8 PM with the Rev. Jim A. Farrell Pastor officiating.
Interment will be Private.
