Sandra Jean Schillon

Sandra Jean (nee Stork) Schillon died February 19, 2008 at her home in Ambler after a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late Rudolph J and Anna M. (nee Gayer) Stork, originally from Bavaria, Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert A. Schillon, Jr. in 1970, her sister Dorothy Ann Stork and her daughter Lisa Anne Schillon in 2003.

Sandra was born and raised in Newark, NJ. She was a 1957 honors graduate of the College of  St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ. Her degrees were in biology and chemistry. She further studied at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. While in college she worked as a veterinarian’s assistant, which fostered her lifelong interest in animals. The Schillon girls were never without family pets.

As a single mother she lovingly raised her daughters and when both girls were in school she entered the work force as a chemist for Napco chemical company in Harrison, NJ.  She traveled to Morristown, NJ. for the company where she was an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of research and development. When part of the business was sold she moved to Ambler, PA to run the Formula Administration for the Henkel Corp. which later became Cognis Corp. She retired on July 1, 2002. After retirement she became an independent contractor and worked with specialty chemicals in Regulatory Affairs.

Sandra was a voracious reader, loved indoor plants, knitting, crocheting and her beloved cats. She loved to laugh and was a kind, congenial and very generous person.  She will be missed by all, especially her dear daughter Katrina Marie Schillon, who was her caretaker during her final illness and the many relatives in Germany.

Services and Interment will be private. Remembrances in her name to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A. 19 E. Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222 or to an Animal Charity of the Donors Choice would be appreciated.
