Matthews Children’s Foundation Grant Recipient
The Baby Bureau
” Recycle, Reuse, Regive the love.”
We are proud to announce The Baby Bureau as the recipient of a $1000.00 Grant sponsored by the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home through our partnership with the Matthews Children’s Foundation. The Urban Family is excited to have helped kick-start the Baby Bureau’s Literacy Initiative.
The Baby Bureau’s literacy initiative is to assure that every baby would receive a new or very gently used book in addition to their fabulous baby bundle. “It is never to early to read to your Baby!”, says Fran Wasserman, founder and director of the Baby Bureau located in Warminster, PA. Studies have shown that reading early to babies makes a lasting impact in life.
The Baby Bureau was born after Fran and her family participated in a service project called, “Emergency Communities” in Louisiana, one year after Hurricane Katrina. This experience filled Fran’s heart. She envisioned providing “Baby Bundles” to babies with financial need born in our local community.
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping underserved moms by providing “Baby Bundles” of clothing for the newborn baby after delivery in our local hospitals. The “Baby Bundles” are distributed by community social service providers that determine the need.
Each “Baby Bundle” contains at least 30 seasonally appropriate outfits, onesies, sleepers, bibs, baby shoes, hat, book(s) and a toy. The baby clothes are either new or gently used and are laundered and donated with love.
Fran’s enthusiasm and dedication is contagious! She is so excited to start shopping for books to meet their growing demands. You too can help this fabulous organization! Visit The Baby Bureau’s website at www.babybureau.com.
