Carl Edwin Hautzinger, age 85 of North Wales and formerly of Ambler, PA, died suddenly on Monday, December 30, 2019, at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of the late John and Mildred (nee Knutson) Hautzinger.

Carl was extremely proud of his Navy service which brought him to Pennsylvania in 1957, where he remained since. He was a Tool Maker employed by Yarway Corporation in Blue Bell for 40 years until his retirement in 1996.

Carl lived an active and happy life. Everyone he met became a friend, and he would proudly tell you about the accomplishments of all his family. You could find Carl at the golf course almost every day. His wife, his children, and a few grandchildren share his passion for golf. He was a member of the Sandy Run Country Club for over 30 years, then Flourtown Country Club. Both his sons served on the Wissahickon Volunteer Fire Company, and he spent many happy times with his extended firehouse family.

Carl was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, North Wales and a past member of St. Joseph's Church, Ambler. In his younger days he sang in the church choir and most Sunday mornings our family returned home loudly singing the recessional hymn.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joan (nee Ostapower) Hautzinger; devoted children: Carol Nevins (Stephen) of Kingston, NY, Susan Garcia (Victor) of Colorado Springs, CO, James Hautzinger (Wendy) of Hatfield, PA, and John Hautzinger (Kelly) of Lower Frederick, PA. He is the loving grandfather of nine. Additionally, Carl is survived by sisters, Elaine Cordova and Audrey Steel and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church 428 S Main St, North Wales, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date.

Remembrances may be made in his name to any veteran's organization of your choice.

Carl had a wonderful disposition and personality. I was proud to call him a friend. He may have been 85, but was taken too soon. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this difficult time. The world lost a good man on 12/30/19. With Love, Your Florida friends, Carol and Jerry Teel

Always honored to be in Carl's presence, such a gentleman and happy living person. Great smile, laugh and his dancing blue eyes. He loved life and was a special respectful person to know. Mark and I and our family are sending our sincere condolences to Joan and the entire family. Another one of the greatest generation has gone to heaven. Lisa and Mark Smith

Carl, You will be missed, from the Friday Afternoon Happy Hours at WFC, Golf in Myrtle Beach to being the Manufacturer of my first two sets of Golf Clubs. Carl, you were the perfect gentleman! Love of your Family, Your God, Your Country, and your friends. Always a friendly word, and when you hit a good shot he would acknowledge, and when you hit that really terrible shot a word of encouragement. Mr. Hautz you were truly a pleasure to call a friend! RIP

I will never forget Carl's great smile and cheerfulness. He was always a big help with the activities at the Gwynedd Woods clubhouse. Especially at the grill! I'm sure he's checking out all the lush putting greens in Heaven now. I can almost hear "Fore!" echoing down from above.

Dear Joan and family! We are so very sorry to hear about Carl's passing. What a great guy he was and a wonderful neighbor. We were very lucky to have him in our Gwynedd Woods Community, he was one of the finest and we will remember him always. Anne Christian and Tom Price

I am so sorry to hear this but I’m so lucky to have known Carl. He was very excited to be leaving for Florida and told me he’d see me March 1st upon his return to PA. He said he’d bring plenty of snow with him. He will be missed at the gym and I am so sorry for your loss.
