Michael Rockwood Sr., 57, of Horsham, sheet metal worker, Auto-CAD Designer, instructor, real estate agent, and devoted husband, father, and Opa, passed away on March 30th, 2021.

His Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Alphonsus Church 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA on Tuesday April 6th at 3:00 PM. Calling will occur from 1:30 - 3:00 PM.

He started learning the art of Sheet Metal from his father at the age of 13 at the family business, H.M. Rockwood. At the age of 20, Mike became a proud member of the Local 19 Sheet Metal Workers' Union. He progressed from working in the field to becoming a sketcher and designer. Mike taught Auto-CAD classes to members of the Union with his dear friend Charlie Watkins. He was incredibly proud of his work, and he loved to point out buildings he worked on to his family. Mike made the plans for the duct work in the very hospital that he took his last breath.

He served on the board at Maple Manor Swim Club and on the liturgical committee at Saint Alphonsus Church. Mike was a realtor with HomeStarr Realty, and he helped many people find their first home, which brought him great joy. He coached teams for Horhsam Soccer, Horsham Little League, Horsham Hoops, and Horsham Hawks. Mike was a timer, announcer, and stroke and turn judge for Maple Manor Swim Team and Upper Dublin Aquatic Club.

Mike met his wife Connie when he was 17 years old, and he was married to her for 36 years. He loved his family dearly, and he is remembered as the unofficial mayor of the town. Mike served as an athletic coach, driving instructor, pasta chef, airport chauffeur, handyman, movie critic, dance partner, Christmas tree selector, and best friend for his family. He always took the time to learn someone's name, even if he only got to meet them for 5 minutes. Mike is remembered for being the most genuine soul you will ever meet and for the amount of pride he felt for those he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn and Henry; his older sister, Dorothy (Dottie); and his younger brother, John.

Mike is survived by his beautiful wife, Connie; his children Michael (Kathryn), Amanda (Yasser), and Jackelyn (Sean); his beloved grandson Michael Patrick the 3rd; and his sisters, Kathleen and Laurie.

Donations to the Scholarship Fund for Local 19 Sheet Metal Workers Union, 1301 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19147 would be appreciated by the family.

The family will receive friends at Springhouse Tavern following the church service. If you are unable to attend the service, please send letters or cards with memories of Mike to the family at 9 Downey Drive, Horsham, PA, 19044.

Our Deepest Sympathy to the Rockwoods. It was my pleasure to have served with Mike on the Maple Manor Board. He always had a big greeting for me and an easy going, but sincere manner. Mike loved his family as evidenced by his involvement with them and their many activities. We will miss his presence this summer and I am in shock as I write this. Too young, too soon.

The Rockwood family is in my prayers during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Mike in the sketching department on a couple of different occasions. As good of a sheet metal worker as Mike was he was an even better person. Mike will be missed. Rest in peace Mike.

My condolences to the Rockwood family for your loss. I worked with both Mike and John and couldn’t ask for a better union brother.
May you rest in peace Mike.

While I didn't get a chance to meet Mike in person, I've heard many wonderful stories about him from his daughter, Jackelyn, and my son, Sean. His personality shines through in photographs, and anyone can tell he was an amazing man and devoted husband and father. Plus he was a big UNC Tar Heels fan, so that puts him #1 in my book. May happy memories and the love of friends and family bring you some comfort as one of heaven's newest angels watches over you.
