Dear family of Karen,

My name is Sylvia Wei. Over the years being an Ikebana International member, I most often communicated with Karen on the internet. I was impressed by her flower arrangements as well as her dedication to the work she volunteered to do and did it wonderfully. Please accept my sincere condolences. May the peace from above be with her family during this difficult time. Sylvia Wei

Karen was a kind, generous, smart, beautiful (inside and out) lady! So much so that after we did not work together, and she retired, she would pick up the phone for our yearly catch up. My condolences to her husband Michael and sister Linda. She will truly be missed.

Karen will be missed terribly. I got know her volunteering at the St. Thomas Barn. Karen was quick to laugh, did a great job organizing the area and always made you feel special. She was indeed an amazing person. Rest in peace.

When I originally met Karen it was as a supplier "wannabe". She was always professional, fair and reasonable. Over they years our friendship grew and I enjoyed every opportunity to interact with her where often we would share a laugh. I vividly recall a conversation with her about pruning a couple Butterfly bushes I had planted and from that day on whenever I look at those bushes I've always thought of her. When I look at the many beautiful butterflies this year in particular and always going forward I will recall her beautiful soul. My deepest condolence's to Michael and Linda.

As Director of Customer Fulfillment, Karen & I worked very closely many years together at Merck through the good times & the challenging times. She was a consummate professional & very important person to the entire Creative Development process. We often collaborated on many projects & she will sorely be missed. To this day I miss our conversations on everything both work & non-work related. God rest her soul & I wish her family nothing but the best moving forward!

I was Karen's Administrative Assistant for many many years at Merck. I found her spunk for life and being a strong woman empowering. We had such a great group and had so much fun!! I miss those days and even more so will miss you! I hope you are drinking tea in a beautiful flower garden surrounded by Dobermans 🙂

My wife and i will be out of town on the day of Karen's service so I want to share a few words about our working relationship and friendship. When I was hired as an editor in Merck's marketing department, initially in the managed care division, Karen was the production manager in that division. She graciously welcomed me to the team and imparted all sorts of helpful information about working in that particular corporate environment. As Karen progressed to manager of the entire production team and I moved among the various marketing divisions, we only rarely worked directly together, but our friendship never waned. Through our mutual interest in horticulture and the Arts, Karen also became acquainted with my wife, Anne. We will miss her and extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Everywhere I turn, I think of Karen. She was such a great friend, but more importantly, a beautiful human being. I can only think God took her this early because he needed her in heaven to do some flower designs. I will miss her so much. My deepest sympathies to Michael and Linda.

M Michael Lewis on Jun 8, 2021

Karen was my whole world for 41 beautiful years. Karen had the welfare of others always in her heart and her mind. She was my rock and I miss her terribly. I know Karen is now in God's embrace watching over me from Heaven. One day I will be blessed and join her in paradise. nothing measurable can come close to how much I grieve Karen's loss.
