Arthur Joseph "Art" "A.J." Dimitri, 67, of Maple Glen, Pa., died suddenly on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at home.

Born in Lake Charles, La., he was the son of Chris Dimitri of Penndel, Pa. and the late Dolores nee Bichner Dimitri.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Ellen Marie Dimitri and loving son, Craig Dimitri of Maple Glen, Pa. He is the nephew of Al and Pat Bichner, brother of Karen and Bob Wiley, Larry and Angie Dimitri, and Maureen and Jim Skelly. He is survived by many other relatives.

He was a kind, funny, humble, generous, and great soul. He was as smart as could be. He had a mind that yearned to learn. The world has lost a beautiful soul.

He was a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School and La Salle University. He loved his family and his beloved best friend, Tucker. He had a wide variety of interests - sports (especially soccer, football, and college basketball), travel, history, and comic books. He was a member of Ryan's first championship soccer team, and he was enthusiastic about technology. He loved live entertainment, enjoyed listening to music, especially the Beatles. His mantra was "the glass is always half full, never half empty." He was perpetually optimistic and was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. He was admired and loved by many.

Art worked in computer technology for decades. He worked for Computer Associates, formerly of New York, Zenith Data Systems in Rosemont, Pa., Platinum Technology in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., and most recently for CTI in Warminster, Pa.

CandleI had the great pleasure of working with Art when working at ZDS. One of the most talented, kind and hard working individuals I have ever worked with. It is a great loss and my heart and condolences go out to his family.

Art and I worked together at Zenith Data Systems and have been friends for close to 40 years. Art was a couple years older than me and always much more mature and supported me with his great advice on life and business throughout our friendship. Art was calm and believed in me and invited me to present to his customers and go on sales calls with him when I was young and very inexperienced.

Regardless of the situation he would always stay calm. Art had this little smirk that was both very calming and almost mischievous. When we worked together as well as over the years at our breakfasts and lunches every conversation included his pride and love for his wife Ellen and son Craig. Art was always centered upon what was important in his life. This is probably why he could stay so calm as he was married to the Love of his life, had a son that he adored and was also anchored by his strong faith.

Art was a person who truly cared about people whether you worked with him, for him or was his customer he genuinely cared. Business and sales is hard and sometimes can be very ugly and impersonal and that was never Art. He really cared and listened and was a person who treated you with respect regardless of whether you were the janitor or the CEO.

Thank you Ellen and Craig for sharing him with us.

I met Art on my first day at Zenith Data Systems. I was a support person to him and learned a lot from him until moving over to sales. He was always so positive and encouraging and was there to give me advice when needed. I am so sorry for your loss. 🙏

A mentor, a colleague, your best friend. So many stories I alone could share could fill up this website since the Platinum Technology days. Dear Ellen and Craig, this world lost a really good soul last Wednesday. None better and damn few as good. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss.
We were so fortunate at ZDS when he applied for a position with us in the early’80’s! Art was absolutely one of the best hires I ever made and a key member of our team. Over our years together he taught me many valuable lessons during the great times, bad times and in between times

P Peter Leporati Jr. on Oct 4, 2021

Art was the salt of the earth. I have know Art since 3rd grade...a lifetime friend who's life ended much too soon. Art always had a quick wit, was smart and he always had a unique perspective on life and its many events which made you laugh and think. He always greeted you with a warm and embracing, sincere greeting. He was always quick to recall our many childhood, teenage and adult events that the "trio" which was Art, Bob O'Neil and myself... which he always took great delight in sharing and reminiscing. I always pictured the three of us growing old together with more stories yet to be experienced and to be shared in our older years. Our 50th high school reunion was scheduled for next year in June of 2022 and I was always nudging Art and Bob to attend them. I am sure Art will be there next year in spirit and laughing at all our stories being retold. He and his family were always in my daily prayers. That will never change. He will always be remembered and his friendship will always be cherished as a very special gift in my life. May you always rest in peace and in happiness until we see each other again. Sincerely, Pete & Ginny Leporati and family

Art was a college that became a great friend, since meeting him in '98 we spent many hours playing ping pong, talking about tv, technology, soccer among many things we would have great battles with the Sales people and always have respect for each other. We would have lunch at Tony's Pizza most fridays and the occasional cheese steak. We share stories of each others family in which i know how proud of his he was. Art loved to drive with his family all over the country in many cases taking the family dog. When I changed companies and we were no longer working together on a daily basis we would still take time to talk on Friday evenings on our way home. You will be missed my friend. I know we will have conversations again when we meet up in the next life. See you then Adrian
