After more than ninety-eight active years of life, Michael V. McCormick passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family and wonderful caregivers on November 6th, 2021. As a man who always left a positive impact, it was only fitting that Mike spent his final moments teaching us about dying with grace and honor.

He was born on January 18, 1923, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, the sixth of seven siblings, but the first to be born in a hospital. Growing up on a flourishing family dairy farm, Mike had a happy childhood despite the Depression-era times.

Mike volunteered to serve as part of the U.S. Army during WWII (1943-1945) in Southeast Asia. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal and during his service he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asia-Pacific Theater Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, and the Victory Medal.

Upon returning to the States, he resumed his 43-year career with IBM. He started as an apprentice toolmaker and after finishing his education, he became a product design Engineer. His professional life began in Endicott, N.Y., moved to Charlotte, N.C., and concluded in West Palm Beach, FL. before he retired with family in Fort Washington, PA for 36 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret "Marge" (Gallick) McCormick in December 2010. His death also brings the end of an era for the McCormick family, with him being the last representative of his generation. Mike is survived by loving children Nancy Malone and her husband Mick of Fort Washington, Michele McKibbin and her husband Paul of Maple Glen and Michael W. McCormick and his wife Meghan (Wallen) of Clifton, VA. He was the beloved grandfather of Meghan Fitzpatrick (Brad), Kathryn Yucha (Ben), Joseph Malone, Jessica Malone, Michael McKibbin, Morgan McKibbin, Kyle McKibbin, Jake McKibbin, Leah McCormick, Olivia McCormick, Sam McCormick, Adriana McCormick, Chase McCormick, Everly McCormick and Dex McCormick, beloved great grandfather of Charlie Fitzpatrick, Cal Fitzpatrick, James Yucha, Julia Yucha and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Mike was an avid hunter, gardener, fisherman, and avid Philly sports fan. He designed and built two homes, including a lake house in Northeastern Pennsylvania that became a favorite summer meeting place for all. It was there that "Pop-Pop" or "Uncle Mike" taught countless many to fish, swim, and water ski without fail.

Most of all, he genuinely cared for everyone in his life. He always made the time to personally fix what was broken, solve any problem and truly enjoyed the company he kept. Some of our happiest memories (and there are too many to count) were of him and Mom on the dance floor together at a wedding, party, or family reunion.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, November 12, 2021, from 9:45 to 11:15 AM at St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002. Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM will be celebrated with Rev. Jerome Wild. Interment will be at a later date in Pleasant Mount, PA.

The family would appreciate remembrances in Mike's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org or Boys Town at www.boystown.org.
